Started a trivial Python-to-Nim transpiler for fun a month ago, but abandoned ship a week later. The reason was that the apis were much more un-nice than in Python, and the performance was only 15% better than Java. And the syntax was pretty ugly. I'm not sure anymore I should stay away from Nim. Best would have been to get something that compiles Python -> C -> machine code. With restrictions, of course.
If I could get Python compiled and fast, I'd switch in a heartbeat. And I'm pretty sure everybody else would too. But since nobody's implemented it yet, I guess there's some catch. Nim has already been developed for 13 years! But then it's a completely new language. Hm. I should at least give Nim a proper try before going crazy with a ton of coding.
