On Balance Volume

I still haven't found any algorithm or indicator that will help me switch modes between "follow" and "oppose". I did however find a promising candidate. When things go in a certain direction, look at the OBV - On Balance Volume. Possibly with some attention to it's relation to Accumulation/Distribution. As an example, here is a fairly common pattern:

To me it looks like "big money pushes down" while "dumb money starts buying," (which is exactly what I normally do).

This type of downtrend is easily conquered. The uptrends are more elusive, and often times containing "tricks" to fool the dumb money (or for eating smaller whales):
