Sure, I've always hoped that whatever it is that is "I" wouldn't simply vanish within fifty years, but while I was hoping for such a thing, I felt it was ridiculous. (Instead I tried to formulate some personal theory around jojoing branes in an Ekpyrotic Universe and infinite time, after which everything would repeat itself.) Despite hard evidence of other paranormal phenomenon, such as anomalous cognition, and somewhat-less-hard evidence in things such as Global Conciousness, the leap to an afterlife is long to say the least. And sure I knew modern research is much more open to the spirit world, but openness is just another word for hope.
Ok so anyway, I won't detail the reason I now know of the sprit world (that's part of a much longer post some time in the future, and it's not as you might think that I've experienced something paranormal), but instead I'll try to explain some of the implications for a grown, white, western man whom have only been fed western science all his life.
Btw: Cartesian dualism, as introduced by Descartes in the 17th century, helped us make fantastic strides in the materialistic world (for instance, the last famine to hit Sweden was 150 years ago), but left the unmeasurable realm of mind and spirit dangling.
Questions:
- Is there a God? I'm not talking about the bearded, Christian guy up in the clouds, but seriously. If there are spirits, God all of a sudden came a hell of a lot closer to reality. And angels? If there are such, they could be Einsteins of the spirit world. I suddenly feel a bit ashamed about my inner sniggering when I heard people talking about their God; they may well be more right that I ever was.
- What about the not accepted parts in Gaia theory, the parts about all living things interlinked? Since/if there is a spirit world, it would almost surprise me more if that is not the case.
- Flying saucers. Astronauts Gordon Cooper (Mercury, Gemeni), Ed Mitchell (Apollo), Deke Slayton (Apollo, NASA Manager), General James McDivitt (Gemeni, Apollo, NASA Manager), Dr. Story Musgrave (Challenger, Discovery, Endeavour, Columbia) Buzz Aldrin (Gemeni, Apollo); and USAF pilots Robert White and Joseph Walker; and Canadian ex-defense minister Paul Hellyer all seem to think there's something to it. NASA videos from space missions STS-114, STS-96 ("boogey at ten ó clock, high"), photo of a triangle in space, look at this strange object (top right) also seem to show something. Either they employ totally nutty people in the USAF, or there's more out there than we could ever have imagined.
- Who knows whatever other paranormal fenomenon there might be out there.
